St. George’s, Grenada (October 26, 2012) – On Wednesday, October 24, 2012, 34 TAMCC students donned their regal black gowns and caps for their graduation as Associate degree holders and internationally certified practitioners in the hospitality field. The graduation ceremony was held at the Grenada Trade Centre Annex under the theme: Excellence in Service: the paradigm to ensure local and regional sustainability.

The feature speaker at the event was General Manager of the Grenada Cooperative Bank, Mr. Richard Duncan. In his address to the graduates, Mr. Duncan reminded them that “attitude determines altitude. Much of what we do and achieve is driven by perception of self and perception of the world around us. It is true that you can only give what you have. If within you, there is an absence of a conviction of excellence and aspiration to excel, then you cannot deliver excellent service. The good news is that you can acquire that inner drive through self-development and self-motivation”.

Surana Jones, valedictorian, noted in her address that this year’s interns not only gained 100% passes at the   international American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) examinations, but secured the highest examination average of the interns sitting the exams over the last three years. She challenged the current TAMCC students to rise to the occasion and surpass the set average of 91%. Since the inception of TAMCC’s partnership with The Crane, over 90 students have benefitted from the internship opportunity, and 15 interns have become full employees in Barbados
