The T. A. Marryshow Community College invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the post of Campus Nurse at the Tanteen Campus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage sick bay;
- Provide first response to assist in emergencies;
- Collaborate with along with the Admissions Office in screening for potential health issues of students as outlined in the application form;
- Assist with Health and Safety procedures on the campus;
- Develop a programme to highlight issues such as:
–Immunization;
–Sexual Health,
–Family Planning, and STIs;
–Management of chronic illness – asthma, migraine, diabetes, sickle cell;
–Prevention of contraction and transmission of communicable diseases such as Zika, conjunctivitis and influenza;
–Awareness strategies for major health issues – cancer, lupus, HIV, etc.;
–Provision of information for proper use of medication;
–Promotion of proper nutrition information to faculty and staff of how to care for students with health issues;
EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- A duly Registered Nurse.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and techniques;
- Ability to assess condition and needs of patients;
- Ability to interact with the student body with a non-judgmental way;
- Ability to take appropriate intervention;
- Knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention;
- Ability to manage health care resources;
- Knowledge of nutrition and diet therapy;
- Ability to provide education and training;
- Ability to counsel, teach and to provide direction or guidance;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
- Ability to work in a courteous and collaborative manner with diverse stakeholders
