ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE IN HOSPITALITY STUDIES

This programme prepares graduates trained in hospitality to satisfy the basic needs of the country and possibly the region. This course provides a general overview of hospitality management. It covers the growth and development, organization and structure, and all of the functional areas of the hospitality industry, including travel and tourism, lodging, food services, and recreation. The Programme provides a solid academic/educational base and practical training for
a variety of career opportunities especially positions in tourism, food service industries, business, government service, private practice, entrepreneurship, educational and community programs as well as preparing students for higher education. The purpose of this area of study is to enhance the knowledge, skills and appropriate attitudes to satisfy the demands of this dynamic and growing industry through the promotion of learning in tourism and hospitality studies.
It addresses the growing need for a common, competency-based curriculum and provides the employers with potential employees who possess a sound theoretical and practical base.
