TAMCC Students Participate in 2025 Caribbean Association of Pharmacists’ Annual Student Leadership and Research Symposium

The Caribbean Association of Pharmacists in collaboration with the Grenada Association of Pharmacists hosted the annual CAP Student Leadership and Research Symposium from January 31 to February 2, 2025 at the Tanteen Campus of the T. A. Marryshow Community College. The event, held under the theme “Research + Evidence based decisions= Optimal Patient Outcomes”, brought together aspiring pharmacists, pharmacy students, educators, and industry leaders to celebrate student research, innovation, and leadership within the pharmacy field.

“Today we witness the culmination of rigorous inquiry, critical thinking and scientific exploration by our students, future healthcare leaders who are dedicated to making a difference in the medical field,” said Mr. Andrew Abraham, Principal of TAMCC while speaking at the event’s opening ceremony. “The symposium not only highlights their hard work and innovative ideas but also reinforces the importance of leadership in shaping the future of healthcare.”

Day two of the symposium featured a diverse lineup of presentations from students representing various disciplines, showcasing their research on topics ranging from pharmaceutical sciences to community health initiatives. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in discussions, ask questions, and network with peers and professionals, fostering a collaborative atmosphere aimed at enhancing the future of pharmacy practice.

“It was exciting to present my presentation to the world and be a possible role model to future pharmacy students,” said Roger Baston, a third-year pharmacy student at TAMCC who presented on the prevalence of prediabetes among young and old adults on Halifax Street,
St. George’s. “I definitely advise future students to participate, do research, network with future pharmacists and focus on learning and upgrading themselves.”

The Symposium came to an end on day three when participants, including students and practicing pharmacists, engaged in workshops and enjoyed presentations by top industry professionals.

TAMCC remains committed to providing students with platforms to enhance their skills and prepare for successful careers in pharmacy and healthcare. We commend the Caribbean Association of Pharmacists and Grenada Association of Pharmacists on the Student Leadership and Research Symposium which is one of many initiatives designed to empower students to lead and innovate in their respective fields.
