Quality Assurance Officer

Job Description
The Quality Assurance Officer will contribute to the effective development, implementation, monitoring, review, and management of the College’s policies, procedures and processes for quality assurance, and within this remit provide the highest quality professional services to students, staff, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. To develop, amend and update a framework whereby the College can maintain its capacity for self-regulation through the identification and description of components of a Quality Assurance System;
  2. To play a central management role in the College’s internal and external reviews by quality assurance/accreditation agencies (Institutional reviews, program reviews, GNAB, GNTA, CANQATE, etc.);
  3. To carry out research projects and prepare reports in relation to academic matters arising from the Academic Board, the Education Program Board, and the College Council;
  4. To attend and participate at related conferences on behalf of the College;
  5. To coordinate with other administrators in relation to College publications – student handbook, Integrity Policy handbook, articles, etc.
  6. To implement policies and procedures for assuring quality and standards of the College including those related to accreditation purposes as approved by the College Council;
  7. To assist in the production of the College’s self-assessment report including the production of data tables of retention, achievement and success, collate data from across the College to assist the Senior Management Team in producing an evidence-based self-assessment report;
  8. To produce and administer learner surveys including annual student and staff surveys, and ad hoc surveys as necessary to provide evidence of quality of provision;
  9. To monitor and evaluate to ensure that standards of quality are being met, testing quality of the various aspects of the College products (students, services, facilities), also analyzing the quality to ensure it confirms to specific requirements of college leadership, and complies with the college established goals of attaining standards, provide the platform for verifying or determining whether the College’s services meet or exceed customer expectations, and whether the quality controls in place ensure that the College products exceed expectations.
  10. To play a key role in improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment through the timely provision of information and to support the Senior Management Team in the quality assurance of the curriculum; this will be done by obtaining, processing, monitoring, and reporting information about course and student performance.
  11. Safety and Health responsibilities: to observe and keep aware of safety and health documentation and procedures in line with College policy, demonstrate a commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students, faculty and staff in line with College policy.
  12. To undertake other duties not specifically stated above, which from time to time are necessary for the effective performance of the College’s business without altering the nature or level of responsibility involved.

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Master’s Degree or equivalence in a related and relevant area (Desirable requirement – educational administration/management);
  • Holds (or currently pursuing) an advanced qualification/certification in education management;
  • Has previous direct experience of tertiary/higher education in a teaching /administrative capacity;
  • An awareness of current development around regulatory framework and quality assurance within Higher Education.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • IT proficiency in the use of Microsoft packages, related software and modalities;
  • Drafting policy and procedures and experience of committee servicing;
  • Analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate and synthesize information in reports;
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills;
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of service provision;
  • Experience of proactively developing services and managing change to meet the needs of the Institution, students and the entire College Community;
  • In depth knowledge of National Accreditation Standards as outlined by the Accreditation Council;
  • Knowledge of relevant quality systems such as HACCP, CODEX, ISO Standards;
  • Knowledge of the Total Quality Management System;
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • The ability to work well under pressure and find solutions to problems;
  • A willingness to be responsible for his/her own continuing self-development.
